Dra. Wahidah Zein Br. Siregar, MA, Ph.D.

Wahidah Zein Br Siregar was appointed as Vice-Rector for academic and institutional affairs of UINSA on 13 July 2018. She teaches at Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. She got her undergraduate degree from IAIN Sumatera Utara in 1991, master degree from Women’s Studies Department, The Flinders University of South Australia in 1998, and doctoral degree from Anthropology Department, Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies, The Australian National University in 2008. Her main research area is gender and politics and gender studies in general.

Her doctoral thesis entitled “Gaining Representation in Parliaments: Study on the Struggle of Indonesian Women to Increase Their Numbers in the National, Provincial, and Local Parliaments in the 2004 Elections” is one of the earlier studies that focused to look at how the quota for women was firstly introduced and implemented in the country. In order to disseminate the thesis, she has published several papers on both international and national journals and has presented papers on several international conferences, such as Australian and New Zealand Political Science Association in Adelaide in 2004, International Political Science Association in Fukuoka in 2006, European Political Science Association in London 2011.     

To strengthen her academic and leadership capacities, Wahidah has also attended several short courses, which are courses in social entrepreneurship in Sydney University in 2012, Learning Organization for Change (LOC) in Coady Institute Canada in 2013, and International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in US in 2013.
